Hargreaves, who now works as a pundit for BT Sport, is surprised to see Newcastle battling for Premier League survival considering the quality in their ranks but is confident they will retain their Premier League status.

The Magpies were downed by a late Heung Min Son strike right at the end of the game at Wembley last time out. They did really brilliant to hold off Tottenham Hotspur for long periods of the game but were finally undone by a rampant Spurs side in the 82nd minute.

Rafa Benitez set up his defense to keep Heung Min Son at bay throughout the game but how long can you keep a player of his caliber at bay? The answer to that question is 82 minutes.

A lapse in concentration in the Magpies defense afforded the South Korean international to unleash one of his wicked shots and as expected, the ball flew right into the back of the net.

Goalkeeper Dubravka did get his hands on the ball but it was just too hot for the Newcastle goalie to keep out as it slipped right through his hands to break numerous hearts.

Coming off the back of an impressive 2-1 victory over Premier League champions Manchester City, the fans will find many positives to take from the Tottenham game.

Now, a man who earns a living in BT Sports studio, Owen Hargreaves, honestly thinks the Tyneside outfit will easily avoid relegation this season.

When asked of his thoughts, he simply played down talks of a relegation battle, insisting that with a manager like Rafa Benitez at the helm, relegation was never even a discussion.

That said, only time will tell whether Hargreaves is right or wrong.
